Snapshots
I am leaving in one week! I say this with a mixture of excitement and regret (although I must admit, I am VERY sad that this semester is practically over). I could blabber on about “what a great experience” this has been and how much I’ve grown. But honestly, all I really want to do right now is put up a couple of pictures and some short stories about my life this past month. (Sorry that I have been awful about updating. In my defense, the last two weeks have been swallowed by papers and tests. I just wrote a 10 page final for Shakespeare…and that’s after turning in a 16 page paper last week).
This is the view from the Waterloo Bridge in London. On our last night in London I impulsively decided to see a play called the Walworth Farce. So I jumped on a bus by myself, and navigated my way to the National Theater. After buying a ticket I had an hour to kill, so I walked across the bridge and took a bunch of night photos. It was such an incredibly freeing experience to be by myself for once, and I must admit I enjoyed walking in silence and just soaking up the night and the lights. London has stolen my heart.
Day trip to Canterbury Cathedral: We left London for the day and took a coach into Canterbury. We attended evensong at the Cathedral and stood on the stones where Thomas Beckett was martyred. Here I am with Shannon and Kathryn in front of the entrance (Jeremy managed to get in the picture as well). After exploring the cathedral I went to a delicious Italian lunch with Maresa and Kathryn—it had been so long since we had Italian food!
Canterbury Cathedral: I love how the sky looks violet
On the way to St. Gabriel’s from London we stopped at Bury St. Edmund’s— a small town with some abbey ruins. We all spread out around the city only to all end up in the abbey ruins at the same time—so about twelve of us played a huge game of sardines. We are so mature
You can’t really see the ruins in this picture but here we are…Kat, me, Michelle, and Becky.
Once we got to St. Gabriel’s we heard a rumor that it was going to snow. I didn’t get my hopes up, but Saturday morning as I was sitting at the breakfast table everyone was looking very suspicious. As I chattered on about nothing I finally turned my head and freaked out to see the entire world white and snowy outside the wide windows. I ran outside (even though I was in my socks) and was soon joined by our entire group. We made snowmen and ran around like children. Everyone else at St. Gabriel’s who was used to snow looked out the windows at us like we were crazy.

Shannon and I made a snowman. This was when it was just beginning to snow and we sort of took up all the snow on the floor to make him.

Doesn’t this just look like Christmas? It’s going to be so strange to go home to warm weather. Let’s all move to England

Oi there!
I came to your blog after googling pictures of places I want to go, today it was England. After clicking on a picture of a lovely hilly green picture I found myself here and was soon delighted after I started reading, you have a wonderful talent for writing but you must already know that.
I hope to go to England and perhaps do some kind of study abroad program. I fell in love with Europe, culture, all the thrills that come with traveling a long time ago. Anyway! Have fun back in Santa Barbara, that’s a great place too.
Ciao! and good luck with life! I hope you keep writing : )
